Coming from a family of musicians and teachers, Sam started playing guitar as a child and was teaching friends and fellow students by the time he was in high school.  In college, he studied with professors from Musicians Institute in Atlanta , the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and the Peabody Institute (preparatory) in Baltimore.  Finishing college in 1991, Sam started teaching music at Phil's Music in Mauldin, SC.  Within three years he became the head guitar and bass guitar teacher and led their teaching studio for the next thirteen years. In 2007, Sam came to Eastside Guitars and Drums in Greenville SC,  where he continues to help his students reach their full potential as musicians. Specializing in Rock, Jazz , and Blues, Sam tailors the lessons for his students, from the beginner  just starting a new hobby, to the advanced player working on technique, songwriting, and improvisation.

 

Sam has  performed and recorded with a wide variety of musicians, including members of REM, Kansas, Bread,  Ozzy Osbourne's band, and  Simom & Garfunkel's band. He is currently playing with the bands "CBS Project" and "Moonshine Opera."
